Product Description

Details & Care

The Sankofa bird is a sacred Adinkra symbol of the Akan people of Ghana. It shows Sankofa bird looking behind as she places an egg on her back. The meaning of the symbol is “To look back and remember”. For if you don’t know where you ‘ve come from, you won’t know where you are going. We must all look back and remember where we come from and pass on the knowledge we have acquired to the next generation.

The Sankofa bird combines our love for African bird species with our passion for custom classic menswear. Meticulously hand selected historical prints chosen for their beauty as art as well as for their compatibility as an accessory. Printed exclusively for our private label in the historical heart of British silk industry, Macclesfield. The Sankofa prints on our ties are created by screen printing the silk, a process that has been perfected in the UK over two hundred years. It is important for our screen printed ties to have the beautiful soft finish of silk, but also having a lustre that the unique limestone water that Macclesfield in the north of England is famed for.

We pay attention to how the tie can be worn, making it very versatile with three colourways – Drakes Navy, Forest Green & Richmond Brown.

3-Fold Construction

This tie is made with a 3-fold construction simply because the tie is folded three times over. Simply put, one fold on the inside, a second fold over and a third over again so that you get closed seam on the edge.

Note - The tie can be ordered as a bespoke accessory piece in other fold construction types such as six, seven and twelve. The bespoke option and construction types have become popular with tie enthusiasts and are used as a quality hallmark. The look and feel is a distinctive sign of uniqueness.
